@philhellenes You're kinda right... but i think the word "invented" might be a misappropriation of truth. It almost implies a designer with intent. There are examples of morality to be found in our genetic cousins as well. We have only been able to exploit morality as an engine of kindness in its present form because it is a natural consequence of language.

@gabo802, but why does it have to be God? Why not the Egyptian Gods or the Greek Gods. There are so many possibilities out there but you cling on to just one solution. Atheists don't know the origins of the universe, but we do have the Big Bang THEORY. It is a THEORY that we will readily disband if an explanation more logical & rational presents itself. But theists claim their belief of the origins of the universe to be fact. How is that not ignorance?

If you did your best to live in obedience to the 10 Commandments, and you always followed the "Golden Rule"; we would live in an almost perfect world. Wouldn't need prisons, you could sleep with your doors unlocked, your wife would never cheat on you, your co-worker would never "screw you over" for that promotion at work, the hungry would be fed, and the list goes on... Suppose we lived truly moral lives and there was NO God? Still be a pretty cool place to live wouldn't it?

We all have morals, god didn't create them, cause he doesnt exist. Or if he does exist and did create morals, then, why would he only give them to people who believe in him? People might first be christians but then think its stupid and become atheist (like me) and then god takes theit morals from them? And if I would become a christian again I'd get my morals back? Or maybe we just all have them, we all have feelings, and stuff inside our mind so why not morals?
